Yakiv Komarynsky

Yakiv is Ukrainian-Polish filmmaker, film editor and colourist. He started his journey with filmmaking from capturing his skateboarding friends and creating short documentaries in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. He studied Film & Television in Warsaw, Poland where he graduated with honours, his diploma film Nuclear Shadows successfully received international recognition at film festivals around the world.

Yakiv’s portfolio is very diverse, he is an editor and colourist of many short films, feature films, commercials and music videos. Recently he had finished the feature documentary "It’s only / not only a body… Or a short film about freedom", which premiered at the Krakow Film Festival (OSCARS® Qualifying) and participated in CamerImage (The most popular cinematography film festival) in the same selection with best documentary filmmakers in the world. Experience of being responsible for the final cut of the film opened doors for his passion for writing and directing. Yakiv is currently working on feature film screenplay and finishing his directorial debut mini-series.He believes that sharing ideas, being in the creative community and supporting in realising artistic dreams are the best gifts for young filmmakers. He hopes to help bring students' visions to life and help them to develop their practical filmmaking skills.
