Walter Hazzard

Walter Hazzard is a Jazz Trumpet Player with a deep love of musical performance and academics. Originally from Ontario, he spent the first decade of his music career pursuing his studies in classical piano, all the while discovering his now endless fascination in the trumpet. He later found his love for teaching and the joys of helping others to their own standards of excellence. In modern times, he's based in the North Van area. There, he plays gigs and performs high level music at Capilano's Jazz performance and composition program where he plays trumpet in the "A Band." It's his belief that a strong connection to the community and history of any musical modality is vital to the growth and musicality of the player. It's this core value that fuels the excitement of musical discovery along with the fulfillment of the impassioned player behind the horn. Walter brings a high energy and stress free attitude to learning music, which never strays from music's most intrinsic message of "play."
